The 60th season of the Peninsula Music Festival opens with the overture selected by the PMF audience: Smetana's Bartered Bride Overture, last performed at the Festival in 1985 conducted by Alan Balter. Grieg's Symphonic Dances receives its second festival performance, having been first performed in 1973 with Thor Johnson conducting. To close the concert, Henning Kraggerud returns for his second PMF performance as soloist in the Beethoven Violin Concerto. Mr. Kraggerud performed the Sibelius Violin Concerto in 2008. The Beethoven Violin Concerto was first performed at the Festival in 1955 with Isidore Cohen and Thor Johnson conducting and most recently with Yuan-Qing Yu and Victor Yampolsky in 2006.
