Rachmaninoff's Rhapsody on a Theme by Paganini was first performed at PMF in 1973 with Mary Sauer (the pianist of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra) and Thor Johnson conducting. It was heard most recently in 1996 with John Browning and Victor Yampolsky conducting. The program concludes with Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture. The only prior performance of the 1812 Overture was in 2005 with Victor Yampolsky conducting.

There will be a post-concert talk immediately following the concert.
